Interpretation | special findings

In everyday practice, we encounter certain findings which may prove difficult to interpret. In the following section we would thus like to present a few typical potential pitfalls and special findings.

poor cooperation

Findings

Quantitatively speaking, normal findings, but with absent inspiratory bulbous loop due to poor cooperation.

obesity

Findings

The flow-volume-curve appears restrictive in nature. However, it follows a normal course in obese patients (see black triangle) and accordingly the spirometric parameters are within the normal range as well.

tracheal stenosis

Findings

Inspiratory and expiratory plateau formation in a patient with fixed tracheal stenosis.
